2008 WECSSAA Cross Country Championships

 

The 2008 WECSSAA Cross Country Championships that will be run at Malden Park on Thursday  October 16.  Kindly note the following:

 

Entry Information

 

1.      An entry fee of $5 per athlete will be charged to a school, with a maximum of $150.  Make cheques payable to WECSSAA.   The entry fee for faxed entries can be paid the day of the meet.

2.      Changes to your entries will be accepted on race day before 12:15.  The only changes that will be allowed are those resulting from the injury of an athlete.  The changes must go through the meet convenors.

 

Courses and Race Times

 

 

1.      The courses are basically the same as The University of Windsor Meet.  The course is mainly grass with some woodchip trails and packed gravel paths.  An asphalt road is crossed a few times.  The entire course will hopefully be marked by 11:30 on race day.

2.      Race Times and Distances (approximate)

Midget Girls    1:00 pm          3000m Senior Girls     2:45 pm          5000m

Junior  Girls    1:30 pm           4000m Junior Boys     3:30 pm          6000m

            Midget Boys    2:00 pm          5000m Senior Boys     4:15 pm          7000m

 

Parking

Please let parents know to park at Mic Mac Park in the parking lot off of Matchette Road.  If your bus is staying for the meet or you are driving yourself, please park in the Mic Mac Park parking lot.

 

SWOSSAA Qualifying

1.   The top 10 teams in each division, as well as any other runners who place in the top 30 in their race, will be entered in the SWOSSAA meet on Thursday  October 23 at Malden Park, Windsor at 12:15

OFSAA Qualifying

1.   OFSAA forms that must be filled out and given to the SWOSSAA convenor at SWOSSAA are:

            OFSAA Eligibility Form - completed with all signatures

            OFSAA Supervision Form - completed with all signatures

            OFSAA Practice Confirmation Form

            OFSAA Rules of Behaviour and Signature Form

AWARDS      

Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the senior boys’ race.  WECSSAA gold, silver and bronze medals will be presented to the 1st and, 2nd and 3rd   place teams and individuals.  Ribbons will go to teams and individuals placing 4th through 6th.  WECSSAA championship plaques are awarded to the 6 division champions and to the overall team champions.  The overall champions will be determined by the following point system:

            1st - 10 pts       2nd - 9 pts         3rd - 8 pts         4th - 7 pts   5th - 6pts

            6th - 5 pts         7th - 4 pts         8th - 3pts          9th - 2pts    10th - 1 pt
